Cette semaine, l’élite mondiale du snowboard cross se retrouve au Mont-Sainte-Anne pour la quatrième édition de la Coupe du monde.
Le champion en titre, Éliot Grondin, est impatient de défendre son titre devant son public. despite the fact that he has no chance of winning a third consecutive globe, the Beauceron is delighted to have the opportunity to finish his season at home. « It’s sure that we always want to win a globe, but at the same time, I’ve already won two in a row, » said Grondin. « This year was based on the Olympics, where I came so close to winning gold. However, the double champion is not discouraged. « There’s still a race to win, so we’ll prepare for that, » he said. « It would have been more frustrating if I didn’t already have two globes. » Grondin also admitted that winning silver at the Olympics was bittersweet, as it was his second consecutive near miss.

In other news, Canada Snowboard is hoping to confirm that Mont-Sainte-Anne will host the snowboard cross World Cup again next year. Roberto Montanés, vice-president of events and engagement for Canada Snowboard, said that discussions with the International Ski Federation (FIS) are ongoing. « We’re working with the FIS and we’ve had productive conversations, » he said. « Our goal is to have a 90% chance of confirming the dates by the beginning or middle of April. »
